Mozart In the Classroom
|
"Friends of the Symphony" volunteers Maude Landon and Caroline Hyde presenting a
narrative of Mozart at a young age to a 2nd grade class. This was part of
the "Friends" Celebrate Mozart program for Peninsula Schools.
These programs, along with "Peter and the Wolf," are funded by Don Knabe's
Arts Education Partnership Program (AEPP) with matching funds from the
Peninsula Symphony Association and Campus Concerts.

October Concert: Brahms

The weekend began with an impromptu fund raiser featuring Elizabeth Pitcairn, the soloist for the Sunday concert.
Marion Ruth and her committee was able to organize the event. Julian and Carolyn Elliot graciously made their home
available to us.

I do not know who this lady is, but she REALLY wanted one of the "Red Violin" DVDs.
She waited patiently in line, and bought the last copy we had. There was another
gentleman who also wanted the DVD. He too was satisfied when another fellow exchanged
the DVD for a CD.

Friends of the Peninsula Symphony: Kick-Off Party
|
The Friends of the Peninsula Symphony held their "Season 46 Kick-Off" event
on September 15, 2012. Entertainment was provided by "Prima Volté String Quartet."
Seen here, these four young ladies are students at our two peninsula high schools.

Many thanks to the Friends organizing committee for the wonderful event.
They are Mona Gofford, Jane Copper, Jene Dunn, Harriet Severis, Anita Gash,
and Jeff Earle. Mr. Earle is owner of "The Original Red Onion" and expertly
catered the event. The Original Red Onion is also a long-time supporter of
the symphony. Thank you.

A good time was had by all, and the party raised $250 for the association.

Esther Keel playing at a fund raising event for the Peninsula Symphony Association.
The event was hosted by Mel and Linda Rowan. The program included
recital playing Chopin Ballade No.1 in G minor, Op. 23, Chopin Andante Spianato
et Grande Polonaise in E-flat major, Op. 22 and Ravel La Valse.

Dress rehearsal the day of our second concert this season. Students from the
15th Street Elementary School of San Pedro were in attendance.
