The First Place winner will be invited to perform as soloist with the Peninsula Symphony
Orchestra, under direction of Maestro Gary Berkson, at our June 17, 2012 concert.

Competition Rules:
|
|
The Competition is open to instrumentalists who have not attained the ages of 25 by June 1, 2012.
Proof of age (driver's license or birth certificate cope) and entry fee must be included
with each application. Audition times will be assigned based upon date applications are received.
Entrants must perform a complete concerto, or equivalent selection, from the standard repertoire.
Selections are subject to approval by Competition staff, and must be performed from memory,
with piano accompaniment.
Accompanists must be provided for both Preliminary and Final Competitions. In addition to
appearing at both Competitions, finalists must be available to appear in concert with the
Symphony on June 17, 2012 and are required to attend all scheduled rehearsals.
Decisions of the judges are final. Neither oral nor written critiques will be provided.
Edith Knox Performance Competition and prizes are made possible through support provided
by Edith Knox Fund, the Mimi Horowitz Fund, and individual donors.

Some previous winners
- Sean Lee is recording with EMI Classics.
His debut recording of the Strauss Violin Sonata with pianist Sean Chen will be released in March 2012.
He is also playing with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
- Kyle Shafiee is a professional musician.
- Derek Polischuk is assistant professor of Piano at Michigan State University College of Music.

- Christy Yu is at USC.
- Grace Fong director of Keyboard Studies, Assistant Professor of Music at
Chapman College and has many professional performances to her credit.
- Sharon Park has also been busy with many professional performances.
- Joon Sung Jun is teaching at CSULB.
- Min Hwan Kim is at Rochester University in New York.
